The New India Literacy Programme (NILP) is a government-sponsored scheme to train and employ non-literate Indians to improve literacy and the quality of life. The first phase of this program was completed by the end of 2020.
The NILP aims to employ a large number of people and will focus on teaching them the necessary skills to be employed in the modern world.
The NILP has been designed to meet the needs of the Indian people, especially the poor and the marginalized, who are unable to obtain employment in the mainstream economy. It will also meet the needs of the communities in which these people reside.
The NILP will be implemented through a system of training, courses, and employment.
